Things I wish I knew before becoming a mother…
- a little lavender on a cloth (or cotton bud) and rested on the ear for a minute calms earache better than any medicine.
- put oatmeal in a sock and tie a knot. Throw it in the bath and let child with rash/bug bites play with it — works better than creams. Put some baking soda and lavender oil in the bath and it works even better.
- vinegar with baking soda cleans better than bleach.
- Drs are just giving you their best guess.
- Breastfeeding is NOT easy for everyone.
- If you don’t ever start with television you will be able to achieve 5minutes peace without it later. Television is like an addiction for kids, the more you use it the more you will need it.
- The most creative and imaginative children I know don’t watch television or play video games.
- There is food dye in EVERYTHING even salmon! Food dye is toxic to children. Some can handle it but all children are better off without it.
- The only way to teach children good manners is to practice them yourself. I had no idea how much I actually needed to modify my own behaviour!
- Plain white vinegar mixed with lemon juice is the best weed killer for places you don’t want ANYTHING (including plants you like) to grow.
- Baking Soda placed immediately on a wasp/bee sting takes the swelling down and eases the pain.
- Vinegar works as well as rinse aid in the diswasher.
- Dead sea salts and Lavender oil work wonders for soothing/softening skin and helping with things like poison ivy rashes.
