My Baby got on the bus and left me!!!
OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My little tiny baby girl, my shadow, has grown up and gotten on the school bus. I am soo unhappy!
I got up early today and woke a teeny tiny girl too small to go to school (in my opinion) and put her in the shower. Oh what a glowing face to greet you in the morning. She was so cute. She has been counting down days until school since her birthday! She showered and dressed so excited then raced downstairs to organise her lunch/drink and put on her bus pass. She was so helpful and cute all morning and OH SO READY for school.
What was the shocking event was while I was in the shower before even waking aq, eq shows up and with a cheerful face says “hello my lovely mummy. I got up all on my own and am ready to start getting ready” WELL!! Surprised I survived the shock of that one!! He was so very lovely and helpful all morning too and even thanking me for being there in the morning and cooking eggs and going to the bus-stop with him. I think that even though it is nice that Daddy takes him in the mornings he misses me a little when I am driving zq.
It was a very pleasant morning of getting helpful kids ready and I got a glimse of just how much easier my life could have been if zq was going to the same school… but as we all know I wouldn’t give up his school for him.
Of course I was miserable as my little baby jumped on the bus with barely a glance back. So independant and ready off she went.
Thankfully zq and I get to have a couple of weeks together. We spent a wonderful morning at the lake we used to go to when they were little, before school. It has been so long since I have been there I barely remembered how to get there. We did three rounds of the lake chatting and enjoying just having us. It was lovely. He remembered biking around there with his trainer wheels. As I was leaving a mother was getting her 2 toddler boys out of the car with the stroller and of course I teared up.
bq not only dropped his baby at the bus stop with us he worked from home in the morning so he could pick her up too. I think daddy might be a tad bit affected by the baby leaving too. The bus was 40mins late. I was going insane!! When she got off the bus she was not her glowing little self and took a while to get chatting - aq? not talking? yes we were VERY concerned. Once she got started we learnt she made 3 friends already and she was dissapointed that she didn’t do much work and she didn’t get enough time to eat all her snack and she was starving. As she ate she opened up. Turned out the bus was very hot and she was the last off so she was a bit over cooked. It was 100degrees today so not too surprising that she was out of sorts.
After lunch aq, zq and I went to the bookstore to get their Summer reading rewards. A pleasant outing as it always is with only 2. Aq spotted Cauderoy bear and couldn’t let him go. As she had her hair done just like Lisa in the book and had survived a rough day for a 5 year old I couldn’t say no. So courderoy bear came home with us and will hang out in her school bag to keep her company on the bus. She looked adorable carrying him about just like Lisa and chatting away to him all afternoon. Courderoy of course had to watch her do her workbook and EliteToma later too.
zq picked out dungeons and dragons figures and another of their drawing books for him and eq. Then it was off to pick up my bear.
A glowing bear came racing off the bus and still into my arms, YAY! I still get hugs
He loves his teacher, loves his classmates and is a very happy boy. Tonight he even said “this was the best school day ever”. WOW! I asked if he liked her more than Mrs Grady and I got “Oh no but just the same”.
Did I mention that aq got Mrs Tiefau? That is 3rd child with the same teacher first year - woohoo! (Pays to tip the teachers nicely) We love her, I am so thrilled and so is aq.
So we rushed from the bus (eqs bus was 30mins late too) to EliteToma to soccer. What a crazy day!!!
The “twins” loved their first soccer practice and love their new coach. She has the patience of a saint and with 10+ kids running about in the heat exhausted after their first day of school - well I am in awe of her!
After my hectic day I still managed to get my extremely exhausted children in cold showers, read to and in bed not too late. If only more days could run so smoothly and happily.
Now I guess I must sort housework so as not to fall behind too quickly.. sigh.
It wasn’t until we were driving to EliteToma that I discovered what really had upset her. As we crossed the intersection she started screaming “mummy this is where the bus went wrong and got lost. I thought we were never coming home” poor thing was terrified. So the bus had turned right and gone and dropped off another girl before coming back accross the intersection to drop aq off. As she was on it for so long and was the last she thought she had been forgotten and thought she was never seeing us again. Broke my heart. We got that sorted and I am going to put entertainment in her bag for her so I hope she feels better tommorrow.
