Broken take 2
Here we go again… so the kids were down in the basement this weekend - Daddy needed a break. Aparantly hard headed EQ who has been told a million times not to climb on the boxing stand, has no concept of what “DO NOT CLIMB ON” means. I hear EQ screaming and then BQ marching the kids straight to bed. I feel funny about how EQ is screaming but decided to stay out of it. I go in to see EQ and settle him down. Still have a wierd feeling.
The next morning I check EQs wrist and he tells me over and over it is fine and doesn’t hurt. I decide to leave it as he has to see the surgeon for a check up on Monday anyway. Again this morning I check it carefully and though I doubt him he swears it is fine and doesn’t hurt. (I can’t tell if it is swollen or not but I could barely see any swelling last time) Finally we go to the surgeon to check up on his last break and I tell the surgeon about the fall. He checks his arm and though this time I see tears spring to the kids eyes he STILL swears the is nothing wrong and that it doesn’t hurt. So now I say “you have to tell him the absolute truth so he can mend it if there is something wrong.” to which he replies “ok it does hurt just a little”. The surgeon cannot believe that he could possibly have hurt the wrist on the same arm and is now worried about the elbow. Straight to the Xray room where he overseas the Xrays. Turns out the elbow has healed perfectly and he is most impressed with the progress. HOWEVER, the arm just above the wrist has a “compression fracture”!!!!! WTF!!!!!!!!!! No-one can believe he has managed to bust up the same arm in a different place and not have rebusted the elbow!
So another cast another 3 weeks! The surgeon says that this type is very common and rarely has complications. It should heal completely in 3 weeks especially considering how well his elbow healed.
I CAN’T BELIEVE THIS!! I had a bad eye infection that was rapidly spreading accross my face. Every time I stood up I got naucious and dizzy. All I wanted was a little rest!! Instead I get a broken boy returned to me! ARGH! He truly thinks he is invinsible now that the elbow healed so quickly and painlessly!
The surgeon said he has 2 strikes now and he is only allowed 3 so he had better be careful. I think that along with the fact that he was embarrassed to admit to the surgeon that he had broken his arm again might, JUST MIGHT, be enough to slow him down a little for a little bit. Either that or I am going to have to start super glueing him to the freakin ground!!
OK I haven’t stopped moving since before 6am and it is now 12 with the dishes not done and I have to start all over again tommorrow morn… sigh… best get to bed.
