Sweet children

So today was not a special day of note but I do want to jot it down to remember just how sweet and non-judgemental children can be.
We had to take care of Ms E this morning. AQ & ZQ woke up their usual bright n’ cherry selves. EQ still snoring late. So they decide to sing songs loudly to ‘wakie wakie’ him up. Which of course ended in a punch in AQs stomach then another one for good measure as he walked to complain about being woken up… sigh.
We manage to get to Ms E’s just before meltdown sets in. Funny how the older you get the more you slip right back to childhood. Oh how I look forward to the age where I can blame all my faults on old age. I think I will be a right grumpy old cow and be proud of it. teehee.
So we shop for Ms E then drop off her groceries. As we are saying our goodbyes AQ picks up Ms E’s tired, wrinkly, bony hand and gives it a tender kiss, looks up and says a sweet goodbye. Ms E was so taken aback. ZQ notices how much she appreciated this so he moves over and gives her a big hug and says “I love shopping for you and taking care of you.” We leave with Ms E so happy she has tears in her eyes. I am so glad for the opportunity to slow my life down and see the world again through childrens eyes. To them she is not an old wrinkled lady but someone we care for. I love to see the world through their eyes.
So unfortunetly shopping for Ms S. ended up being this afternoon too. So I begged for the kids patience and pressed on.
Again I am so glad to see the world through their eyes. They walk in, gladly great her and her room mate and see nothing but the good parts. They chitter away and treat her as a special part of their world. So nice to watch them bring smiles to the sad, lonely and housebound.
I have to say the kids were very patient at the store and we only had a few meltdowns which is good for the gheto supermarket. Something there just brings out the worst in them. I think it is the setup of the store. It is dark and the angles all make you feel closed in.
When we finally got home late afternoon I ABSOLUTELY HAD to clean the car out. AQs carseat again smells like she burried a dead fish in it and there was sand and …. well… ICK EVERYWHERE!!! rofl. I just thought of the heart attack the lady we used to shop for would have if she had seen that. I think she would have gotten the cleaners out and started stearilising right then and there! lol. Actually she almost did one day and THAT was a clean day!! haha Well I guess it is clean OR kids, you just can’t really have both.
So as I am cleaning out the car, which ZQ helped me with for a bit. ZQ gets a question from AQ. “what do these numbers on these stickers mean?” Response: “well it looks like you are meant to stick them in order on this page to make a picture” “oh. I can’t do that. Will you do it for me?” ZQ says sure and proceeds to spend at least the next 20minutes making this sticker picture for her patiently while she sits there with him. He then tries to make the second one from the book at her request and discovers she has lost a couple and patiently explains to her why this picture is not complete. I was so amazed by this patient interaction coming from a 6 year old. Perhaps I should learn from him!!! (Not the first time I have felt I could use some of THEIR patience)
Then AQ discovers her toy camera in the garage. She asks ZQ to pose for her and he proceeds to pretend pose then fall over. This brings out belly chuckles from AQ and “do it again” requests. He does it over and over again. It was so adorable to watch and again I was reminded that I could use more patience in my life.
