Perhaps I should just purchase a room at the hospital …

So EQ broke his elbow tonight… the story is quite incredible. I am not sure which way to tell it. The story I assumed or the one the crazy boys confessed at 11pm when we finally got home tonight…
First let me tell about my day… tee hee. So I went out to Mahwah to look about at houses. I looked at my heaven and saw again the start differences between BQ and I. I would be in total heaven there pottering about fixing things up. He would find it hell. It is an old orchard house built in the 1900s. The guest house and pool is stunning and the yard is to die for but the house needs A LOT OF WORK. To put it mildly. Frankly the price is way too high and even the realtor thinks so. If it drops another 200 then I will be first in line! Might have to make husband live in guest house while I renovate…
The kids loved it and were dying to jump right into the pool. As we pulled up Karen says “oh no do we have to go in?” “I mean really, this place is all you. Damn it I can really see you here.” She was hoping to be able to talk me out of anything we saw. lol. We passed an Irish pub down the road & I said that we could get drunk & walk home and pass out in the guest house. lol
OK so to the arm I guess. The kids have been tired and rammy the last couple of days. Has a lot to do with how stressed out I have been trying to get this house ready to sell. Plus they have not been to sleep before 10pm all Summer and are getting up around 7.30am. Not enough sleep at all aparantly. We got around 5pm after having dessert out with Karen and the girls. I was tired. Put on the tv and went to the toilet. Came out to screaming and cursing coming from EQ. AQ was saying something about ZQ kicking EQ so now I am fuming. I can’t figure out what on earth has happened nor how badly EQ is hurt. I sit there with ice on his arm. Look for obvious breaks, he has movement. I can’t figure it out. 30mins later he is still breathing deep cursing under his breath and screaming at me if I move it a certain way. So I call BQ and ask what he thinks. For once he says “straight to the ER. He has broken something” I was pretty sure of it too so off we go.
I am very angry and getting angrier at poor ZQ. I believe I yelled “shut up” at him at one point when he was whinning about getting in the car or something. I was mad, mad, mad at him for breaking my little boy.
So we get to the ER. The triage nurse was very nice to us but I could tell he thought I was being paranoid. EQ afterall was not screaming at this point and seemed to have pretty good movement.
But they admited us all the same. The Dr was great. Completely over the top with the crazy noises and even tickled him a little and got some giggles from him. When he found the spot he found it but it was really nice how he dealt with it. EQ was not at all scared or panicky.
So we go radiology. They take the first few pics and I am like PHEW! nothing. Then they took a pic of the left elbow and she couldn’t get him to put his right elbow in the way that she could take a pic. So I go help out and soothe him into what she needed. Look at that pic and uh oh. One of these things is not like the other…. Sure enough a bone in his elbow is broken.
So they set it in a half cast and send us on our way. Karen thankfully came in and took the other kids to get some food. It was horrible weather to come out in and her birthday tommorrow so I owe her BIG TIME!!!
So when we get home BQ and I are interviewing the boys because now BQ is mad at ZQ too. It turns out ZQ did not kick EQ at all!!! So the story goes. The balloon we got at the restaurant - I HATE BALLOONS - went up into the skylight. EQ was trying to get it. He couldn’t reach so the plan was he was going to stand on ZQs feet like an acrobat and ZQ was going to push him up an extra foot so he could reach the balloon. Of course this did not work and this is how the boy fell on the hardwood floor from quite a height right on his elbow!!
Poor ZQ. He was so upset. We appologised for blaming him and all had a good laugh as BQ had them run him through exactly what they did and how they thought it would work. I mean seriously. 6 and 4 year olds aparantly do not have too much logical thought… lol
I was just in the toilet too!! Could they not have waited a few more seconds and asked me to get it for them??? WOW!! So much for our boy becoming a star gymnast or some such… now he is a broken little man. :( I have to take him to the orthopaedic surgeon tommorrow to take off the half cast and put on a full one. FUN! This Summer will from here on out be a REAL challenge. We are about to take away all the boy loves. No trampoline, no bike, no lake, no wrestling, no breakdancing… sigh. I am going to go insane! Hopefully our trip away will find many distractions for us…
Sigh. I guess I will go try for sleep. I didn’t get any last night thinking of having to sell up and move. Stress, stress yucky stress.
