So my neighbours kid gave my kid a broken nose today. I love how that sounds so much more terrible than it really was!
So we had C over for the day and they had all changed into swimsuits & were about to get in the sprinkler. They were all a little excited at this prospect and were jumping about a bit. Zq came running around the corner one way as C jumped in the other direction and POW!! I heard a terrible cracking sound & all I could think was “oh gee I hope that was my kid hurt.” You know you never want someone else’s kid to get hurt on your watch! So I take a look at my poor boys face and no doubt about it his nose is broken.
I had my other neighbour - a nurse - come & check it out to make sure & she confirmed that yes it is broken and no there is not much they can do about it at the hospital. So we kept ice on it all day and he let me push on it now n then to try & keep it straightened up.
I was so proud of my boy. He handled it so well. He laid down & let me keep ice on it and spoke reasonably to me about it. I asked him whether he prefered a slightly crocked nose or if he would let me take him to the hospital to have it straightened. He said Mum I would much rather u just straighten it. I promise I won’t cry if u help me. He was very cute and sweet for someone who had just had his nose broken!
