So the sunflower seeds ZQ planted flowered while we were away. They are not normal sunflowers though. They look quite odd. lol.
The butterfly garden has taken off this year and we have a yard filled with butterflies and bees. It is great.
The neighbour went ahead and ripped out the 30 year old juniper bush that was on both our properties. I am furious. Every time I look at the digusting bare hole and electric box it was hiding I want to hurl firebombs! I am sooo mad. I will be planting many bee attracting plants in it’s place and I am considering getting beehives!! lol. I can’t believe a grown man is scared of a bee! He isn’t even allergic! Grrr. I am thinking of putting in a full garden in it’s place. A rhod, a couple of butterfly bushes (bees love em) a lilac on either side of the rhod and some junipers in the front just to get the point accross. Then I am putting in a lilac hedge between her place and ours in the back so I never have to see her again. MAD, MAD, MAD!!! It turns out it might technically have been army land that “my side” was on but still she knew I didn’t want it out and what makes her think she could just do that? 30 years of growth just thrown away. OMG did I mention I was mad??? Anyone think of any fast growing bee attractants?
So Canada was fun. Moomaw has been going there with her family since she was a child. 46 years to the same cabins. (no running water and long drops) They sold the cabins and this was the last year the family could go. So all were pretty sad saying goodbye. They have a place sorted for next year at twice the price but it is on the same lake and doesn’t have a long drop so that is a bonus -lol. So it was nice to get to say farewell with them.
This year worked out pretty well. Loads of fishing and great campfires. Moomaw made her usual gormet meals. The cabin this year had fleas in the bed. I am still covered head to toe in bites that won’t stop itching sooo yucky. AQ was awesome to watch fishing. She loved it and loved eating them too. She was mortified when Bruce threw away one of her fish heads not because she was worried about the blood or anything but she wanted to eat the whole thing!! It was hilarious. I fried them up and she ate more fish than I have ever seen a child eat. ZQ was all in to jumping in to the lake off the rock this year and swiming out and repeating over and over and over… which was amazing considering the water was barely above freezing, infact I swear there must have been ice in it! The kayak was a big hit and well used. Bruce flipped out first try but quickly became an expert and has put one on his wish list. I got in some throwing practice and actually got 2 sets of 6 in but doubt I could repeat it as I was pretty tipsy at the time.
We miss Mum loads. I can’t believe that she made it home with that luggage. I mean really!! She had enough for the both of us. That darn camera bag was so heavy. I really wish she didn’t have to leave and I feel terrible for not getting enough fun stuff while she was here.
I am exhausted. I am dying to feel normal again. I spent the evening doing washing and cleaning the house last night, nothing more than normal but it was enough to make me dizzy again. When I was in Canada I took ZQ on the ski biscuit and used my legs to steady us a tonne. When I got off I spent the rest of the day with unstoppable leg spasms. Just yucky. But I am glad to be alive and mostly well so best stop whining.
Today I spent the day weeding and have the garden looking great again. Tommorrow I hope to get the last of the mulch moved and will feel great about the yard again. The kids helped out a bunch and were really cute about it.
I also got the car cleaned inside and out and the garage sorted out again. The kids did all sorts of little jobs with me it was great to have a work day with some help.
Well think that is about it. Pretty tired so not sure if it makes sense or not…
