The glory of Full Frame CCD…
How did I ever live without it??? lol. My new camera arrived and just playing with it amazes. I took a few just point n shoots of the kids and WOW! What a difference in the optics. I can’t believe how much nicer the colours are. And here I was thinking it was all about the lens. I think I will try and get to the falls this week to see if I can snap off some nice pics. Maybe there will be some good pic oportunities at Joan’s for the 4th.
So this year is really flying by. The heat broke and the weather is GORGEOUS. Par was here this weekend so we were not able to get on our bikes. (BQ was not able to work off some stress…) So Saturday we went to the lake and tried to bbq but we got there too late. It was nice to have a swim and lounge about a bit. I spent all day Sunday in the yard. I discovered a shrub in the back was choking my spirea and rhodo’s so I attacked it and pulled most of it out. It is pretty in the spring but it was really killing everything and looks sloppy when not in flower. BQ thinks the previous owner planted it there but it is a local plant so I am sure it just found its way in there. I am going to put in another rhodo in the area I cleared out and try to keep it more tammed. I pulled so much poison ivy and the other choker vine that is all over this state. I trimmed shrubs and even pulled out a tree that was killing stuff near the bridge. It was a wild tree we had let live there but it got too much and was killing the holly and shrubs so out that came too. I hate to pull out trees but there are decorative plants there that were dying. Finally the big tree bq kicked down (it was dead) last year was rotten enough for me to break up and yank out. It was sooo heavy! But I dragged that off to the woods and at last everything looks perfectly manicured again. I give the weeds 2 weeks!! lol. BQ came out late in the afternoon and helped me move the mulch around. We almost finished the entire pile. Othman helped me clear out and take down the fence from what used to be the vegetable garden and it is ready for grass though I think I may have to put in something nasty to kill off the weed roots. They have been growing in there for 5 years now and I can’t see them giving up too easily. There were poison ivy roots that looked like tree branches! That was the worst placed vegetable garden I have ever seen. I wonder if the previous owner ever got anything to grow there. It was completely surrounded in trees! We can only see one yard from our backyard and as we are the only people on the street that are ever outside it has never been a problem but they put in a grill this year and have actually been outside a bit so it is time to put in a hedge. lol. We are going to plant lillac. It makes a nice hedge and smells good too.
I keep looking out at my yard and admiring my work, considering how much my back hurts I am glad you can see what I did.
Friday was a big hit. The weather cooled off so no-one noticed that we had no airconditioning - phew! It was really unpleasant on the Wednesday. I stayed up all night Thurs baking and cleaning and only had to throw one thing out. Nope still cannot make a sponge! Going to practice that. The ladies all love the house (which I found surprising as it is much smaller than all of theirs) and are fighting over who gets first pic if we ever decide to sell. I think the kitchen sells it. The bathrooms are soo much tinier than those in most places but we have made the most of the space and I don’t want a huge house anyway. I can barely keep this one clean! I can’t imagine an inch more!
So my neighbour asked me to pick up her mail and water her plants and told me she was leaving tommorrow night on Thurs, which would make it Friday evening. So on Sat I picked up the mail and watered the flowers… she was home! lol.
