Luck of the Irish!!
Happy St Patties day!
It has been a “difficult” few days. Lets see, after shorts weather the other day a snow storm hit on Friday and didn’t quit until this morning leaving behind 6inches of snow and 6inches of ice on top of that. I tell ya moving that off your driveway is a barrel of monkeys! At first, when it was just the lovely soft snow it was pretty, our first real snow of the winter, but once the ice hit it was kind of sad. Not even very good for sledding in. Though the boys made lovely snow castles today.
So the dryer story… they came to fix it. Turns out my circuit board is broke and guess how much that costs to fix…. $350! Right about what a new dryer costs! ARGH!! It is only about 3 years old!!!!!!!!!!! I cried when the guy told me. I paid him is $69 estimate and told him to leave the piece of trash where it is. So off I went to the store to buy a new dryer. This is on Wednesday. The promise to get it to me by Friday. Then they promise Sat, then the snow hits and they say they can’t deliver until Tuesday. This phone call comes just after EQ has an accident in my bed soaking my last clean sheets and every blanket and duvet!! So in the middle of the snow storm I am required to pack up all three children and drive to the laundry-mart. I am so glad I have the car for it!! It was kind of fun to get to test my beast out in the snow for real. The roads weren’t even plowed. It was great to plow on past all the whimpy sedans out and about.
The kids and I did alright for being stuck at a laundry-mart. We went next door for pizza, the pizza place aparanly does a booming business in such weather as they get all the snow plow drivers. It was crazy busy. Then while the stuff was drying we went over to Costco. It was almost empty! It was neat to have the place to ourselves. I managed to locate a dryer there and purchased that (and called Sears and told them where to put their one
). Getting someone to help me get it and then getting it into my car was a challenge and by the time we got back to the laundry-mart they had shut it up! Luckily I am on good terms with the drycleaners next door and they had gone in to talk to the guy and gotten the key and rushed to my rescue!! I cannot tell you how grateful I am to them!
So finally home and get the dryer on. I picked a very PLAIN model in the hopes that there is less to go wrong but so far it seems to be doing the trick. Now to catch up on a week without being able to do the washing for a family of 5! It was a cute novelty at first…
So given that the snow just happened to fall on BQs birthday I got to go out and shovel it today… To quote AQ “OUCHIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” I have to ask, Why do we have such a bloody big driveway????
We had a lovely day today. The kids and I wrapped presents and baked bread and a cake. I did some more cleaning etc. BQ got up and was happy with gifts. I then took the boys out to play in the snow while I shoveled (AQ had gone for a nap) and BQ got some game time. Adam came over and we had a lovely dinner. The kids sang “Happy Birthday” while BQ blew out candles and now we are about to watch a movie. Nightie, night all.
