An employee gets regular breaks and vacation for a reason…
So I just figured something out. Every day I get up at 7am after the little sleep that I did get being pretty restless and frequently interupted. I go all day running about with children without a single break. I get to bedtime, around 8.30pm, and I feel like I am ready for death. At around 6pm I start to feel like I am going nuts and I just realised why, that is about an 11hour shift without break! I am starting to really understand why people team up to have children, coz it just isn’t human to expect a person to work this hard. Top that off with the fact that after they hit bed my other jobs start and go until bedtime and that there is very little meaningful human interaction in my life and it is little wonder I am feeling a little on the edge!
Actually we had a truly lovely day even if I am exhausted. EQ, AQ and I took care of Ms E while ZQ was in school. (So much easier with only 2 children!) We picked up ZQ and headed for the park. The boys rode the 2 mile track on their 2 wheel bikes. I was so proud. EQ has only just really got the hang of it. ZQ is like lightening but is really patient about having to stop and wait for EQ. We had such a lovely time. We stopped to throw rocks in the lake and let the boys play dirt bikes in the mud which meant they were so discusting I am still trying to get over them having been in the car -lol.
We came home to hang our ghosts in the trees for haloween and played outside. I am loving the weather. Wish we could hold on to it forever.
I have washing EVERYWHERE!!!
Got some vegetarian cook books and I have to say I am very dissapointed with 1 of them. It was designed for kids and I guess if you are going from a mostly processed, meat heavy diet then you could consider the recipes in the book a healthy alternative. Filled with cans. Canned beans, canned vegetarian style precooked beans… ewwwwwwwww!! Hasn’t anyone noticed all the studies proving that food and drinks stored in aluminium causes brain problems??? In that same book it quotes Dr Spook and a bunch of studies that heart problems are begun in childhood even as young as preschool. So we are aware that we need to be concerned about their health and the long term affects of what we feed them, but we seem blind to so many of the toxins we feed our children. I am really having a hard time finding a good match for the type of vegetarian cooking for our family. I don’t believe in meat substitution vegetarianism. Like tofu dogs tofu is tasting as it is, why try to make it something it is not. Not to mention over processing it like that seems nutritionally pointless, might as well go with a steak, at least it is pretty much in its natural state. So recipes that are designed to use soy substitutes for meat are not what I am looking for and recipes that use beans in a can are also not what I am looking for. Surely there are people out there that have compiled recipes that use simple ingredients, don’t have to soak overnight (though some recipes that do are OK just not a book of them) and are kid friendly… too much to ask huh.
BQ in Boston tonight. Well must get to the washing. Washing folds faster with a glass of wine…
